Karen Latchana Kenney is a children’s writer, editor, and proofreader, who was born near the rain forests of Guyana but then moved far north to Minnesota at a young age. She’s written more than 170 books for all grade levels covering many subjects, especially science and civil rights topics. Kenney’s award-winning books have been named a YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers, a 2015 Book of Note from the TriState Review Committee, a 2011 Editor’s Choice for School Library Connection, and as Junior Library Guild selections. They’ve also received positive and starred reviews in Booklist, Kirkus, School Library Connection, and School Library Journal. When she’s not researching and writing books, she loves traveling to new places, biking, hiking, and gazing up at the night sky in northern Minnesota, where the stars are vividly bright.
